Christening Gowns

The christening ceremony is one of the most auspicious and special occasions in a parents' life. The christening ceremony is also popularly known as the naming ceremony. Not only are the parents dressed with much fanfare to mark the occasion, but also other invitees, as well as the child.

If the child is still in the infancy stage, then usually whether boy or girl, they are made to wear a baby gown. There is no specific reason for this. It is just that the child looks cute in an oversized flowing frock that could be called as children's christening gowns.

The christening ceremony is generally followed by a celebration, which could be straight after the ceremony or then later in the evening. It is usually a formal setting more like that of a wedding where everyone is well dressed and enjoying themselves.

Christening gowns are not very formal or too dressy, since this function is usually held during the day. People prefer wearing lighter colored gowns that are designed in cuts and styles that look more like full-length frocks.

In fact, many people wear full-length summer dresses that pass off as christening gowns. Since childhood is marked by innocence and purity, people generally select light pastel colored gowns or those with bright floral prints.
