Christening Gowns

The christening ceremony is one of the most auspicious and special occasions in a parents' life. The christening ceremony is also popularly known as the naming ceremony. Not only are the parents dressed with much fanfare to mark the occasion, but also other invitees, as well as the child.

If the child is still in the infancy stage, then usually whether boy or girl, they are made to wear a baby gown. There is no specific reason for this. It is just that the child looks cute in an oversized flowing frock that could be called as children's christening gowns.

The christening ceremony is generally followed by a celebration, which could be straight after the ceremony or then later in the evening. It is usually a formal setting more like that of a wedding where everyone is well dressed and enjoying themselves.

Christening gowns are not very formal or too dressy, since this function is usually held during the day. People prefer wearing lighter colored gowns that are designed in cuts and styles that look more like full-length frocks.

In fact, many people wear full-length summer dresses that pass off as christening gowns. Since childhood is marked by innocence and purity, people generally select light pastel colored gowns or those with bright floral prints.

Designer Evening Gown

There are some world-renowned designers who climbed the popularity charts since they have been constantly endorsed by the rich and famous. These include those of the film fraternity, women business tycoons and other female dignitaries. In fact almost every woman of repute has a personal designer who creates attire according to the need of the hour. This includes the business wear and the evening gown.

This is not to say that he designer evening gown is limited to just the rich and famous who we encounter in the media world, but also other's who can afford it. There are many people who save up enough money to purchase at least one designer evening gown a year. It maybe for a special family occasion or then to lavishly celebrate a festive holiday like Christmas or New Year's Eve.

An original designer evening gown is not created in bulk. So to speak designers create a few gowns of the same pattern. They however maybe manufactured in various sizes. The reason for this is that they do not want to become common, as what differs them from common brands is their exclusivity.

While some designers create a line that they put up on racks of certain clothe stores, others prefer to cater to select customers. Their clientele need not be the elite, but could be others for whom they exclusively design evening gowns. When they create a gown they keep in mind a few factors that include the wearer, occasion and expected crowd. The designer then works on a pattern and design that they expect should make the client stand out in the crowd.

Evening Prom Gowns

Evening gowns are the most formal of all women's attire. And in spite of being categorized as formal wear one would never see a lady wear an evening gown to the office or at seminars and conferences. This is because apart from being formal, it is also classified as a dressy attire.

What does this imply? Usually gowns are made from fabrics that look rich, classy and sophisticated. These include velvet, silk, satin, raw silk, etc. in fact almost all types of fabric that have a shimmer and shine are used to create evening gowns. It is not the eye-catching twinkling fabrics, but the subtle sheen.

The variation in cuts and styles do not permit this type of garment to be on a general basis. These include the plunging back and front necklines, the high side slits, the heavy adornment, the accessories that are required to be carried, et al.

Evening gowns are also regarded as glamorous attire. One would notice how world-renowned film actresses spend a lot of money on their gowns for award functions and international film festivals. Each year they set a new trend that is followed by many across the world. People tend to replicate the designer evening gowns to create something probably less glamorous and revealing, yet having an essence of the original.

Not only the glamorous, but even the more serious people involved in politics and business in countries of the western world wear evening gowns to formal dinner parties and dignitary functions. Ladies attending such functions generally wear what is termed as the sophisticated and classy gowns that show less skin and yet make them look attractive.

Informal Wedding Gowns

In case you are planning a small and simple wedding then you can also select from the informal wedding gowns that are available at various boutiques and departmental stores and malls. Apart from the fact that you are looking at a small-scale wedding with a few invitees, this type of wedding gown is also known to serve a more important purpose.

There are a number of brides-to-be around the world who are extremely nervous about marriage. To such an extent that they run away on their wedding day! Most of them are scared of stepping into the institution of marriage. It is not that they are forced to get married in the first place, it is just that the entire event makes them so anxious that they would rather back out than go ahead with it. The problem is further accentuated when the wedding celebration is elaborate with a long list of invitees and an exquisite wedding dress.

If you do feel nervous about marriage or you know that your daughter, friend or sister who is getting married is extremely anxious about the entire event, then the best thing to do is to arrange for something informal. You could condense the list to absolutely near and dear ones and have the bride-to-be pick one of the informal wedding gowns.

Leaving aside this situation where informal wedding gowns play an important role, there are some couples who pan to marry at the spur of the moment. They may decide to marry at the church or go in for a court marriage, either ways to add some ceremony and celebration the couple can purchase informal wedding clothes that in style math upto the event and yet does not create the effect of grandeur.

Plus Size Wedding Gowns

Being obese or over-weight is not ugly. And it is not such an impediment in getting married as it used to be. Gone are those days when parents needed to pester their young girls to remain slim and trim until at least they got married out of the fear that no one would marry their daughters. The general reason for the change in outlook is that people have come to understand obesity and over-weight to be a health problem rather than aesthetic or cosmetic problem.

Like many say, beauty is not in the weight or rather the body, it is in the heart and soul. For a large number of people suffering from obesity, losing weight is a daunting and almost impossible task, especially in the short time before their wedding. But that does not imply that they cannot wear something as exclusive as the slimmer and trimmer brides! This is where plus size wedding gowns come in.

The plus size wedding gowns are specially designed for the overweight and obese brides. These gowns cannot make the bride look thin or slim, but it does cover the bulges, making her look beautiful on her special day.

The problem with overweight people and their clothes is that generally clothes designed for them are shapeless, with no special designs or patterns. Their clothes are just plain and simple and because of this they tend to shy away from crowds or suffer from inferiority complex. And till recently, wedding gowns designed for them actually made them look clumsy as they walked down the aisle.

Plus size wedding gown designers take special care when designing the gowns. They keep in mind what kind of material will make them look large. There are certain soft flowing fabrics that have a shimmer and shine that make a person look more in shape than they are. Usually, when designing for overweight brides the designer does far less adornment work as compared to the other brides, concentrating more on the cuts.

Designer Wedding Gowns

Designer wedding gowns are generally created by renowned designers and sold in limited pieces at selective stores and boutiques. Though every wedding dress manufacturer would have an in-house team of designers, the difference between those sole on the rack at varied places and the designer attires is that the former specialize in clothes affordable by almost anyone and everyone. The latter on the other hand caters to a select clientèle.

Generally when you purchase designer wedding gowns you are assisted by a specialist who has been trained by the original designer to cater to your needs. This person would guide you towards the best fitting gown in the price range you have decided. She would supervise your trial sessions and advice you on the kind of tiara or headgear you should ear to match the gown; the veil; jewelry, bouquet; footwear, etc. This specialist or consultant would also guide you in what should preferably be worn by the bridesmaids and the maid-of-honor.

Designer wedding gowns are more expensive than the run-of-the-mill ones that are easily available off the rack because the material and fabric used is dearer than otherwise. Some designers specialize in making gowns using only precious and semi-precious stones. In fact the expensive gowns are those that are adorned with diamonds and crystals.

Apart from the gowns, the customer pays extra for other hidden costs such as designer royalty, consultant fee, store expenses, craftsman fee, etc. But then, for an occasion as special as a wedding, people prefer to spend lavishly to look their best. They know when they pick their wedding gown from a designer; they will walk down the aisle looking perfect from head-to-toe.

Wedding Gowns

Wedding gowns have always been created out of white fabric. This is not only the bride's attire, but also those attending the wedding or at least those closely known and related to the bride and the groom. The gowns worn on the wedding day are made from a rich material that usually has a sheen and glimmer and white stones attached on it. These maybe semi-precious stones or plastic glittering stones that sparkle from a distance.

In the days gone by wedding gowns was considered to be the most expensive garment she every purchased in her life. The gowns were generally designed with lace and flowers and wore long flowing, sweeping the floor as she gently stepped down the aisle. In fact brides used to look like angels with the bridesmaids following her. In fact when people talk of their dream wedding gown, they almost always refer to what Princess Diana wore on her wedding day.

Though today people prefer to spend less on the wedding gowns, the designs and patterns created are exquisite and unique, though they may be available in multiple pieces. The present trend is straight-cut gowns made from satin or silk, with slits on the side. It may have sleeves or are sleeveless. Along with this type of gown, the bride wears an attractive tiara to which the veil is attached. After the ceremony the bride can remove the veil and wear the tiara as a hair adornment.

When planning on wedding gowns, most people prefer to have their bridesmaids and maid-of-honor wear gowns that go with her outfit. Their cuts and patterns are on the same lines, only lighter than what she would wear. In fact many brides-to-be take upon them to purchase gowns for the bridesmaids and her maid-of-honor. She would also select a gown for her mother that will make all guests identify her.

The middle part begins with the important decisions of the prom updos. This implies the make-up and hair do. Yes, it does take a lot of effort to look good.

For the perfect look on prom night, you should ideally go through a few trial sessions at home to see what shades of make up and what kind of hairstyle looks best. You could seek the opinion of family members or have friends over to have group trial sessions.

There are some make up experts and hair stylists who organize special sessions for young girls who want to learn the right kind of make up application depending on the occasion. They guide the girls on the right color blends and the correct ways of applying cosmetics such as lipstick, blush-on, eyeliner, eye shadow, etc. They also teach them how to do up their hair according to the occasion and the attire they wear.

There are no cosmetic products that are specially manufactured for the prom night. Prom Hair

The way you do up your hair for prom night does speak volumes about you. Normally one considers personality and look to begin and end with the dress, footwear and purse; but it does go beyond that. No, it is not just about the other accessories and make up, it encompasses even more. What is this even more? The hair!

Most people spend the least amount of time on their hair. After getting dressed up they would probably run a comb or brush through their hair and let it fall the way it usually does. No gel, no mousse, no hair spray, no style. And as a result they do not even realize that they look just the same as they do everyday. Prom hair should be styled in accordance to the attire you wear.

There are a number of books and magazines that recommend prom hairstyles according to the occasion. Or then you could visit a hairstylist for some tips on how to do up you hair for the special occasion. If you can afford it then have a hairstylist do your hair and make up. They know exactly what would look best on you.

It is not necessary to select a complicated prom hair design. It can be something basic with hair clips that match the dress or flowers pinned on the hair. The reason why most people prefer to have their hair gelled for such an occasion is because while dancing they do not want to keep brushing the hair off their faces. In case you are confused on how to style your hair for the prom, you could also take suggestions from the designer from whom you purchased the dress. They would definitely help you out with everything from footwear to hair do.

Prom Dress Shoes

The prominently worn prom dress shoes are the close ones with pointed tips and high pencil heels. However, the length of the heels depends on the height of the individual. Women usually do not like towering over others, especially as far as men are concerned.

The prom shoes worn on such an occasion should be comfortable and should not keep slipping off especially while dancing. Some of the fancy ones are secured with a satin ribbon or a fancy buckle. Your shoes can match with the dress you wear or could be of a contrasting color that matches the purse you carry. Some designers make footwear from the same material or fabric as the dress. This in fact completes the entire get up for the evening, not to forget the purse that could also be of the same material.

Generally, shoe shops do not have a particular range of prom dress shoes as such, however, the salespersons can guide you to help you pick up the ideal one for the evening. When trying on these shoes you should feel comfortable especially to dance and move freely. Apart from that you should wear the shoes a couple of times before the main event to avoid being pinched by the new shoes. This can cause a lot of discomfort and you do not want to sit on the corner while everyone else is having a good time out there.

Whether it is jewelry, clothes or anything else, a good investment is one where you can repeatedly use your purchase or in other words make full use of its value. Therefore, try and pick up prom dress shoes that you could wear otherwise too.

In fact of all the western garments the evening gown is regarded as a timeless, classic and sophisticated attire. You can see women attending important function wearing this garment styled in various ways.

The gown is one of the most versatile attires that calls for a lot of experimentation. Prom gowns can range from something ultimately glamorous like those worn by celebrities, to something subtle and delicate. But the then style and pattern primarily depends on what you are comfortable carrying off. Apart from that your overall physical appearance include height, weight and social composure play an important role in deciding kind of gown you should wear.

Generally, if you are not too tall, then designers recommend a gown with delicate work done and higher necklines as it makes you look tall. Obviously you need to wear high heels. If you are of a bigger built then you can choose from prom gowns with lots of work done on them. For instance, larger motifs on your dress will stand out well. The preferred colors for a gown are black, white or midnight blue.

The jewelry worn should be something light and delicate. Anything eye-catching would make you look like a walking-talking glam doll. If you are wearing a gown to the prom night then you should wear darker make up and gel your hair at the back instead of it falling on your face.

Gowns for proms are generally tailored from fabrics such as satin, silk, raw silk or velvet. They are in plain colors, though some of them in self-prints do look pretty. However, contrasting prints are too casual for such an occasion. In fact the gown will end up looking more like a formal summer dress.
